Ahrend

Jan Schröfer, an idealistic socialist and member of the Workers' Youth League, founded De Cirkel. His encounter with Bauhaus ideas inspired him to design furniture, leading to the establishment of NV De Cirkel.

Ahrend and De Cirkel's Merger

Ahrend, originally a dealer of office supplies, came into contact with various factories, including ODA and De Cirkel. Ahrend successfully sold De Cirkel's furniture, and in 1941, acquired a majority stake in De Cirkel. In 1967, De Cirkel was integrated into the Ahrend group, and the name was changed to Ahrend De Cirkel.

De Cirkel produced iconic designs such as the Oase, Repose, Result, and Revolt chairs, designed by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld in the 1950s. These chairs served as both office and home furniture, embodying the principles of the Good Living movement.
