Vitra
The Vitra company was originally a Swiss company of the Fehlbaum family. In 1957, Vitra received the license from Herman Miller to produce the Eames collection. The company was growing and gaining prestige. Director Rolf Fehlbaum is a big fan of modern design and gets a friendly relationship with Charles and Ray Eames. Together they put the collection together for the Vitra design museum in Weil am Rhein.
Vitra is slowly growing into an international design brand. In 1984 the collaboration with Herman Miller ends but due to the good relationship with Eames they get the direct opportunity to carry the Eames collection under their own name. The market is divided. Herman Miller takes care of North and South America, Vitra Europe and Asia. More information about the Vitra brand can be found here.
