The S21 from Galvanitas is the stackable brother of the S16 school chair of the 60s. Because of its minimalistic design and industrial appearance, the chair is extremely popular nowadays. The S21 from Galvanitas is without a doubt a classic and is super practical thanks to its stackable frame. As a result, this chair is frequently used in hospitality businesses and is very suitable for business purposes.
A special design chair
The chair was designed and produced by Galvanitas in Oosterhout in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They opted for a design with the typical compass legs. Instead of the usual tubular construction, the designer opted for a frame made of pressed sheet steel. A very solid and at the same time revolutionary design for that time. Wim Rietveld, one of the pioneers in the field of industrial design in the Netherlands, described the pieces of furniture as functional: "well-formed, sturdy, usable and inexpensive".

The S21 was specifically intended for intensive use in public buildings, such as schools, institutions and canteens. Galvanitas is (still) known for its quality and reliability. The seat and backrest, produced in West Germany, are the model of German gründlichkeit, which is 'top quality' translated.

All newly manufactured parts are completely identical to and interchangeable with the original. Exactly like they were in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The only concession - the frame is now welded instead of soldered - because this benefits the environment. The frame and seat are available in different colours. This way you give your own twist to this famous classic.
