Fritz Hansen

The history of the Fritz Hansen factory begins in 1892. In this year, furniture maker Fritz Hansen receives permission to set up a furniture factory in Copenhagen. The factory specializes particularly in the production of seating furniture.

Due to the high quality of the furniture and its central location in the capital, the factory receives many prestigious orders and thus builds a reputation. As a modern enterprise, the factory closely follows the latest production techniques. Chairs made from solid bentwood, tubular frames, and later plywood are no exception in the collection. Through knowledge and innovative strength, the brand manages to attract many well-known architects and designers. During the war years, the company continues to grow.

Fritz Hansen Grows into a Global Brand

After the war, Danish furniture becomes very popular in other countries, meeting the ideals of the new era. This advantage allows Fritz Hansen to grow into a global brand. One of the most important designers contributing to this is Arne Jacobsen. The Ant and Series 7 chairs made of bent plywood set the standard for the modern chair. This is a milestone for Fritz Hansen and Scandinavian design. Many more successes follow, making Fritz Hansen a leading name for over 100 years.
